Executive Education at IIM Amritsar aims to help organizations innovate and provides a platform for employees to upskill themselves. On 26th July’21, IIM Amritsar inaugurated a three-week-long Management Development Program (MDP) for officers from SJVN Ltd, a Mini Ratna company. This 3- week extended Management Development Program, “Leadership for Changing Times,” was developed and customized for the SJVN officers to help them help professionals acquire strategic and functional level analytical skills to lead their organizations. This program aims to help the executives from SJVN understand the changing needs posed by the volatile business environment and help SJVN stand true to its mission of Powering Progress, Innovation & Excellence.
The management has set a shared vision of a target of an installed capacity of 5000 MW by 2023, 12000 MW by 2030, and 25000 MW by the year 2040. It is committed to translating this shared dream into reality. To achieve this ambitious target, the focus of the management is to develop the right mindset and skillset amongst its young executives so that they can navigate these challenging times. This training intends to make a planned intervention to level up the behavioral competencies of the high-performing Executives and thereby help them to charter the path laid down for the organization to achieve the shared vision of SJVN.
The program is organized at Hyatt Regency Amritsar from 26th July-13th August’21. The program has diverse participants who are being exposed to varied best practices from their organizations and other allied industries. The different learning approaches used in the program would affect their decision-making ability. The program has a rich blend of hands-on skill-based exercises, experiential and thought-provoking sessions, and cultural excursions to soak in the real spirit of Punjab.

The journey of this prestigious MDP platform has been full of challenges to change the general perception about my profession with aspirations, motivational norms, ease of learning and excellent quality of teaching. Whereas, the course I understood earlier before my joining of course was of rigid view that it would only impart the basic bookish kind of overview during longish journey of 20 days but contrary to it was more engaging and mind boggling with practical implications as it was more of tailor made objectives connecting power sector in present with best world over practices. The theme of the program was designed such that it hardly made the journey of 20 days a boring affair instead subconsciously it had given several reasons for change. Long live team IIM Amritsar, as you are the perfect source to the lasting objectives of utopian India with world class tutors.
